Ease of doing business has emerged as a key differentiator in terms of attracting investment in a State. Establishing a Single Window facility is a common means to enhance the availability and handling of information by creating a single investor touch point or interface, while simplifying and expediting information flows between investors and government. It can also bring about greater harmonization and better sharing of the relevant data across governmental departments, bringing meaningful gains to all stakeholders. It can result in improved efficiency and effectiveness of official controls.
To enable IT entrepreneurs establish and operate their business in Punjab a 'Single Window' facility has been designed. This facility will provide a 'single point of contact' to investors for getting clearances and avail incentives as per the policy from various departments within the stipulated time period. It will also provide updated information and guidance to investors on policy initiatives and schemes of the State government.
Needless to say that such a facility would require close interaction and co-operation amongst various related departments and agencies such as Department of Industries, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Department of Power, Greater Mohali Development Authority (GMADA), Punjab Urban and Development Authority (PUDA), Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and Punjab State Transmission Corporation Ltd. (TRANSCO). Punjab Infotech would ensure necessary co-ordination and effective convergence of the requirements and services being provided by various agencies to ensure ease and convenience to the investors.
