Government of Punjab, through Punjab Information & Communication Technology Corporation Limited (Punjab Infotech) has prepared a Detailed Road Map, Strategy and Action Plan with the assistance of M/s Ernst &Young for promoting investments in the IT Sector in the State. The State is currently taking a number of steps to implement the action plan and has identified various opportunities for developing infrastructure such as IT Parks/ SEZs in the State of Punjab to attract IT industry in the State. The State has also enacted its own Special Economic Zone 2009 Act and has recently announced its new Industrial Policy 2009 with the thrust on IT sector. The State has further identified a number of projects at various locations such as Rajpura, Kapurthala, Rail Majra and Ropar. These projects are at various stages of conceptualization and implementation.
