The Government of Punjab is committed to provide a congenial atmosphere to the existing and prospective investors and entrepreneurs in the State through Enactment of State SEZ Act, 2009 & Formulation of Industrial Policy 2009, Mega Projects Policy (Rs. 100 crore or more) and IT/ITeS Units (Rs. 25 crore or more than 500 employees), Super Mega Industrial Park Policy (Notified Feb, 2008) for projects exceeding 250 acres, Industrial Facilitation Act, 2005 to provide for speedy implementation of industrial projects by providing single point clearance, Deemed approvals for time-bound approvals of building plans, CLU etc., Composite Application Forms to strengthen time-bound clearance system.
Punjab is 6th State in the country to enact SEZ and Industrial Development in Punjab to get a boost with the execution of new SEZ Act. State's SEZ Act has improved on the concessions and facilities being offered under other State Acts with its unique features such as Exemption from Stamp Duty, Registration Fee and Social Security Cess, Allocation and transfer of land within SEZ, permission for generation,transmission and distribution and consumption of electricity within SEZ.
